If You Give A Mouse A Cookie

The children read the book 'If You Give A Mouse A Cookie' Some children made a mouse and some children made a cookie. The children listened carefully to the start and guessed what would happen next on each page.

Cloud Art

The children learned about different clouds. We did a wonderful activity where the children listened to music that would remind them of the sky. They looked through books with pictures of clouds and they created art work that looked like clouds. Them room was amazingly quiet and the children worked so hard to create wonderful masterpieces!

The children counted and the seeds on a Strawberry by using a magnifine glass.

Banana Creme Pie!

The children made a pie! they did a great job following directions and boy was the reward tastey!

Oil Spill Experiment!

Earth day is this month and the Playroom is learning how to take care of our planet! We are learning about recycling, our environment, and we are even learning about oil spills! After watching videos on what the most recent oil spill did to our environment we did a hands on activity to understand what oil is and how the animals were able to be cleaned.

The children were given little yellow fuss balls to represent ducks. There were thrown into the oil spilled water and then we were to clean the ducks. The children thought they would be able to clean them with water, but sooned realized that wouldn't work. The children learned how harmful the oil is to the animals and that Dawn dish detergent was the best source for cleaning the animals. We closed the activity by watching videos of the animals that were saved and the process they went through.

Bowling!!!

We took the older children on an exciting Field Trip to Star Lanes Bowling Alley! They worked on Independent skills, large motor skills, coordination, and sportsmanship!

Trip to the Aquarium!

The children loved taking a trip to see sharks, Nemo, and Dory! :) It was so exciting to hear the wonderful questions they asked!

Happy Valentines Day!!!

The kids had a blast at the VDay Party! They made Valentines for their friends and put the first letter of their friends names on the cards they made. They put the cards in their friends VDay boxes that they made. The kids are excellent at reading each others names!

FALL 2012

Hello Friends and Family!

As you may or may not know I have made the announcement that I have decided to start the process of opening a Child Care Center Fall 2012. I hope you will give your support and advice to help quide me on this journey. This Center will be a Reggio Emilia Center which is a teaching method I strongly believe in. I have been using some of the Methods already, but will be incorporating even more into the Playroom. If you do not know what the Reggio Emilia Method is please take time to watch this video. I am excited to start this journey with all of you by my side!

Thanksgiving Party!

The Parents all came together and brought something for the Thanksgiving Party! The children ended up having an AWESOME feast!

Flubbery Gak!

We made Flubbery gak! the kids had a blast. We mixed cornstarch an water together. It was a solid and a liquid at the same time. We sewnt home some with each child, I really hope the Parent's get it out with their kids, because Walter and I had a blast with the kids! :)

Music Time!

The children enjoy Music Time with Maddie! They love telling her their favorite songs and she plays them. Cecelia joined in with her guitar. The other children used shakers and tambornes. Gavin LOVED watching the guitars being played and Jackson that the concert was awesome!

Sunrock Field Trip August 2010

The children had wonderful opportunites to pet many different animals! The children picked vegetables out of the Garden with the farmer. The walked around with the Farmer and fed all the animals. They even milked a goat! They were able to hold a giant fluffy rabit! They were able to run around with chickens and collect chicken eggs! We finished the day by having Lunch at the farm. It was a wonderful day that everyone enjoyed!
